| Entry: | First entry of the season. I'm working in the southern end of the opened portion of the 4040 area. For the past few days we have been concentrating on the western part of this area where the level of the archaeological deposits are higher and taking of arbitary layers of mixed materials (10000, 10011 and 10014) from within the confins of walls which ware starting to appear (no building numbetr has been given yet).. The last of these layers included a glass vessel rim (x1) indicating that the material is still very mixed. Furthermore below (10014) the cut of byzantine grave (F. 1407) was visible which had not be identified at a higher level despite repeated cleaning of the area.Entered By: Lisa Yeomans |
