| Entry: | Working in the northern end of the reopened part of the 4040 area. At the moment i'm concentrating on the westerb side of the area where the archaeological deposits are higher and a complete building seems to be contained within the confines of the 10meter width of the trench. We had taken off a few arbitary layers of mixed material (10000,100011 and 10014). The last of these contained a rim of a glass vessel (x1) indicating that we are still very much in the mixed material. Furthermore a byzantine grave cut (10020) was not visible untill these layers had been removed despite repeated cleaning of the area. A number of walls are starting to delimit a building or at least a room and this will be allocated a building number once I am more sureEntered By: Lisa Yeomans |
