Entry: | Roddy has pretty well covered what I've got up to so far - apart from the few ephemeral hearth? deposits and eroded floor layers I've been removing the platform extension F.1317 which was releeased by the excavation of floor (8086). F.1317 wasn't in great shape - it appears to have been eroded away or removed at the western end and there wasn2t much left elsewhere but then the platform(s) in this part of the building have been very badly knocked about by later Neolithic and more recent ground squirrel activity. However there was some painted wall plaster left on the N. face (8099) and it appears as if inititially there was a course of mudbrick laid against the original platform and faced with wall plaster before the main platform extension was built. Finished excavating the extension today - this revealed on the n.face of the original platform F.1314 a face of wall plaster (10613) painted with red pigment though unfortunately there's not much of it left what with the ground squirrels and all.....Entered By: Richard Turnbull |
