| Entry: | Most humid day under the shelter so far but at least the annoying black midgy things weren't so annoying today. Shahina came up this morning and she'd obviously been mentally chewing over our walls since she pointed out that we'd got walls sitting on top of our walls i.e.Building 10 walls on top of an earlier building. Which means that the Greeks had started excavating an earlier building without realising - and jamie and ourselves have continued. So now this building we're in has been designated as Building 44. We've also had visits today and yesterday from Discovery Channel hoping for a discovery - nothing doing yet but we are about to start excavating in the SW platform F.1314 where there is substancial slumping so maybe we'll get something groovy and sufficiently televisual for them. We took the opportunity to make a casting suggestion _ John Swogger as a young Jimmy Mellaart.....
Not many units today but moved alot of spoil - finished off last remnants of (10627) this morning then took off the thin plaster floor layer (10629) that extended across much of the room - and then an orange make-up layer (10630) which again extended across most of the room and now we're in the process of removing a horizon of grey grit (10636) . We've released at least one phase of the northern platform F.1307 and I think we're close to releasing the wedge that was added to the N. Face of Platform F.1314 and maybe one of the platforms to the east as well....Entered By: Richard Turnbull |
