Entry: | Today we took out yet more room fill, and contrary to my claim from yesterday, we continued to fast-track. A thorough cleaning of the entire space for the priority tour clarified a lot of the features emerging underneath the fill that we had been taking out for ca. 5 days. We re-found and planned at least three basins or bins in the west part of space 100 (two rectangular, one round), and the beginnings of a plaster line crossing E-W in the northern part of the space, which might possibly be the top of a platform or a similar feature. We cleaned carefully around the two horn cores, following plaster "lumps" to determine whether they might be parts of a platform containing these finds. The priority tour came through today, but we were not really able to tell them much more than we had already. The relationship of the various surfaces we were struggling with became clear with the recruitment of RR and RET, who stopped by in the afternoon. Based on their experience excavating at Ç., they advised on what we might be looking at in various parts of the space. As a result of this conference, we planned and then took out some layers of plaster which were unconnected to any recogmizable feature or the wall.
At the end of the day, the Stanford team held a bried meeting to assess the past week we have been here. Everyone seems pretty pleased so far, with both the work and the environment.Entered By: UK |
