Entry: | In space 112 work skeleton 10840 was exposed to a large degree -feature 1702. Lori Hager did this job removing the above matrix 10842 which start at the brown interface covering skeleton 10840 and sloping down below sheep skeleton 10839. The skeleton is oriented east west with the head in the west. The body is on its back and the legs are drawn up against the chest. Thus in location orientation and body position 10840 is similar to 10814 and 10813 above.
With 10840 two objects were found. Behind the left shoulder is a large tear shaped flint object. On the left clavicle lies what seems to be a large bird bone - possibly stork or crane. It is not clear whether this bone is worked at present.
On the skull and in other places the bones of 10840 are reddened - suggesting that cinnabar or ochre was applied.
In the north the larger part of north wall f 1700 was removed as unit 10843 - a small section was left in place in the west as the section would collapse - in this spot there is a plastered niche in the adjacent wall of VII.20 and thus there is no wall to support the adjacent body of soil. Architectural samples were taken of both wall 1700 and east wall 259.Entered By: Bleda During |
