| Entry: | In space 112 the following activities took place. Lori Hager continued exposing skeleton 10840; removing unit 1842 in the process. The body was fully exposed and photographed. Marin Pilloud started drawing the skeleton; but this work will continue on 30-07-04. Hopefully skeleton 10840 can be lifted on 30-07 and the excavation of feature 1702 can be finally ended.
To the north I took out the packing between the removed north wall f. 1700 and the south wall of VII.20 [unit 10844] and east of removed wall f. 259 [unit 10846]. In the eastern corner of 10844 two cattle scapula were removed; which were removed as cluster 10845. Furthermore a strip of the level VII construction fill was removed [unit 10847] along the west and north wall up to the level of the black clay ruble below [lower fill]. So far I had been assuming that the lower fill goes with the infilling of the level 8 wall; whereas the upper fill was put in after the level VII wall had been constructed. However it became clear that the level VII continue in part below the upper fill. This would imply that both fills relate to the construction of the level VII building. I will reasses these relations in the coming days. Hopefully it will be possible to take out all level VII walls this season; but I have only three working days left and have no assistance; so I am not sure whether this will be possible. A lot depends on how fast we can get rid of feature 1702 and whether I have workers at my disposal.Entered By: Bleda During |
