Entry: The outlook of space 112 changed dramatically in the course of this day. First I defined the bottom of cut 10811, feature 1702. Below where the sheep had been located a stone axe was found (unit 10842 -x1). A final drawing of the cut was made (04/920).

The aim of the last two days is to take out all the fills abutting the level VII, space 112, walls in order to reach a level where the west wall f. 267 can be taken out (which is important because the north and east walls of level VII (f. 1700 and f. 259) have already been removed. The fill that goes with the level VIII walls will be left for future excavation. Because a large amount of fill has to be taken out to achieve these aims I got some additional support. Sevim Topçu and three workmen helped me out and we took out an enormous amount of fill today. Most of the work has been done today and I am hopefull that we can do the rest on 2-08-04 (my last excavation day).

The remainder of the construction fill (unit 10848) was taken down (same as units 10818/10819/10821/10824/10847). Below that we came across another fill layer, unit 10849, which consists of brwon clay with brick debris and plaster chunks. The bricks debris looks very much like the brick matrix of the walls of space 162, level 8. Below that we came across a clean brown silty clay, unit 10850, that was also taken out.Entered By: Bleda Düring
