Fill 11937 was excavated today and it contains the very same material (mud brick with wood impressions) as 10286. The content of 11937 is burnt but much less than that of 10286. I think that when the fire started in the house 52, 11937 collapsed from somewhere on the floor in the very early stages of the fire. That is why it is not so burnt and also the floor 11934 under it is not so burnt as in the other parts.
Next stage of events is: fire continues to burn and cook the walls around it. The bench with horns collapses on top of 11937. This could have happened when the walls around fell in, breaking the bench and covering it.
Very difficult to prove but the most credible idea I had so far: the horns cluster 10281 were at the moment of the fire fixed in a pillar and so they got burnt. At the end of the fire not all the walls collapsed but some parts of them were still standing, including the pillar with the horns. Somebody collected all the horns and dumped them over the rubble, (maybe even place them in a shallow cut) and then demolished the rest of the standing structure over them.Entered By: Doru Bogdan |
