| Entry: | We have continued with the same team in the same area, however we have now a building number: B63. This means that our separate spaces combined, and became a building. Ian Hodder and Shahina visited us twice today, as Ian arrived this morning, and would like to see what we have found this year, and how to continue. I have worked in S252, which becomes S283, and emptied the second bin. It had fewer visible organic materials, but filled with burnt kerpiç’s and wood. Its side walls come out very nicely. Günes continued on S284, and had some interesting discoveries such as a red plastered piece of wall beneath the bench and a whitish area with bones over the floor near by the hearth and next to the bench. It was within the burnt area and the phytolith content reminds a bag. Basak came after the breakfast to see if the bones belong to a baby, and told us that they seem animal bones. Then Arlen came to take some samples from phytoliths and saw grain glumes in addition to possible grasses. She said that this find may belong a pouch woven with grasses, and includes some grains and meat, so we started to develop possible stew recipe. The report of Foodways of Çatal, written by Sonya Atalay and Christine Hastorf in Çatalhöyük Perspectives (Vol.6), which I go through quickly might helped us for such imagination. The third specialist who visited this find was Kathy, she had checked the bones and told us that the bones possibly belongs to sheep or goat. It is such a great thing to work in collaboration with all these specialists. A few minutes ago when I visited the lab Arlen told me that she is working on the samples that she took a few hours ago.
Ian told us that we have found the working area of the building, but the living area is under the profile, so finding the burials of the house may not be possible. So we will not get a chance of unearth a whole building with the people who lived in the same house, unless we extend the trench borders to north.
