Excavation Diary Entry

Entry: Progress continues on little britain, Dave is digging big holes in the south east and I'm finding dead babys in the west. A small infant burial was excavated by Basak, which was unfortunately in really bad shape, I've finished taking out a lower fill and recording the cut 12505 (sp 272), but it looks like there is another one under it and truncated by this one.
I've made a start on the plaster surfaces in B53 , Sp257 and removed the plaster from the N and E walls F1523, F1524 and from around the pillar, F1529 to reveal that it has a mortar core. The plaster is coming off the NE platform, F1525 but revealed a ground stone cluster pushed right into the NE corner of the platform against the walls and smothered in plaster, which I'm dealing with at the moment, there is also an oval area of plaster in the S part of the platform which is being revealed and that is screaming out more burials.. Frustrating as I'd like to race through this building.
Dave is having a great time digging the first of several pits cut into the burnt deposits of space 261. It has a fantastic section showing really fine ashy lenses, loads of bone, some pot and obsidian but also some of those 'golf tee' figurines as well as a nice bulls head figurine and some bone points and a needle. New pit tomorrow, more treasure.
Where have all these people come from?Entered By: Simon McCann
