Entry: | Building 49 (space 100) was partially excavated in 2003 and 2004. The sandbags backfilling the building were removed last week and the building was cleaned and found to be in a good state of preservation. A white plaster floor (12693) was removed from platform F1656 to reveal an ashy deposit (12698) containing fishbone, a piece of worked bone (12699-X1) and a cluster of obsidian flakes (13600), which represent knapping activity. A dirtier floor (12699), associated with the obsidian knapping, was removed to reveal a grave cut [13608]. Excavation of this burial has just begun but it appears to contain a single crouched skeleton.Entered By: DE |
