| Entry: | Kostas and I had a discussion last night on the problems and tensions that had arisen from his seminar last week. His seminar had opened a can of worms and my diary caused further tensions. I apologise to everyone for creating that situation, however in Carolyns terms it was a 'productive tension' as it led to this discussion that was set up by Ian. There were many things I had misinterpreted from the seminar but, I am now more familiar and comfortable with his system and hope he is with ours too. The Mellaarts arrived today and were given a grand tour. Site work progressed at a steady pace, Mary is digging fill in space 116, Roddy took out the building debris (1692) helped by Mary in the morning, and through the day by Ali, Atakhan, Anwen and Maltem. If the animal burrow in the middle of the room is any guide we have a lot of fill to shift, no floors show in the side of the hole that is at least 0.8m deep, but we don't trust sections! Mellaart says that some houses have up to 2 m depth of fill which is a bit depressing for this seasons goal. I might put everyone available in that space tomorrow as I'm still holding things up at the west around wall 77. Naomi found a cluster of obsidian in a small depression, unclear what it represents as much of the surrounding deposits are disturbed, possibly the depression was pot stand scoop in the floors, later filled by obsidian or, or, I don't really know.Entered By: Shahina Farid |
