earliest oven sequence in building 44
The earliest oven or hearth within the building sequence was F.1333 that was constructed north of the later sequence that was situated along the southern wall of the structure. While badly truncated this consisted of a series of three baked floors (11274), (11275), (11276) and levelling deposit, (11280). Roughly oval in shape the remains measured 0.68 by 0.60m. The floors were sealed with a deposit of demolition material (11269). |
