Grid X: 1045.45  Grid Y: 1178.6

This wall was only partly exposed since it continued in to the section 12/915. Ten layers of yellow bricks could be counted. The lengths of the bricks are c. 0,8m and the thickness 0,05-0,07m. The mortar was grey and between 0,01-0,03m in thickness. As with the neighbouring wall F.3679, the eastern end of the wall was probably cut off when the wall F.3627 was erected.

In 2013 feature was excavated by A. Klimowicz:
The reason of erection of the wall F.3646 along the northern face of existing counterpart structure (F.3679) remains still unclear. The feature did not have any relation with uncovered units and it was not bonded with any structure at least in its Eastern section. Therefore, interpretation involving construction of the wall with the kind of retaining purpose is still the most plausible. In that case the feature might have been built to keep F.3679 from collapsing on to B.77 (see Archive Report 2012, p:25).

2014 EXCAVATION SEASON:
- In 2014 the excavation of the southern wall F.3646 of Sp.488 had been accomplished. The work was focused on the western part of the feature, due to its eastern segment was already executed in 2013. In the course of the recently conducted research activities the major interpretation has been not changed (See also previous description). The Eastern segment of the wall comprised of 8 courses of bricks (U.30125), and in its most western part there was just 1layer of brick recorded. The described differences in the height of the feature resulted from the demolition performed by the foundation trench (F.7340).
Among the significant finds recorded within the feature (3646) one may mention offering deposit (X1) comprised of huge equid pelvis and radius placed within the second (counting from the bottom) layer of mortar (U.30126). The uncovered piece of eco-fact most plausibly must be regarded in a term of special-kind deposit, that had been offered during the construction phase of the wall.
Due to the lack of any connections or bonding with the other walls the purposes of erection of the free-standing structure of F.3646 remains still unclear and it must be regarded as retaining wall.
