Engaged 'Panel' - core of feature consists of at least two large timber beams, of which the charred bases survive. It is unclear if these posts were plastered - it is more likely the wood was left exposed. This panel is associated with/ same as engaged pillar F.5028. This appears to have a structural function, and probably supported substantial cross beams. The posts may also have has a secondary decorative function. |
