Additional Phase Info: The “?” indicates that it is not part of the direct stratigraphic Hodder sequence. As a result its relationship in the Hodder phasing is determined by a series of abuttments and by taking into account its location in the Mellaart levels. Correlated to house E.VII.20, formation horizon was reached towards the base of the building. NB/Work in progress. Correct as of date entered or modified.

Description:
Shelter foundation excavations 2002.
C. centre north stretch.
Equiv Mellaarts House 20, Level VII

Defined by the west wall F.841, bricks (5666) and mortar (5667) and the east wall F.838, bricks (5649/5775) and mortar (5650/5776) only. Within the walls infill (5663/5664) overlain by another infill layer (5657) were excavated over which a kerb of mudbrick (5781) and mortar (5782) formed a possible platform F.1081.

This space is the same on building VII-20 excavated by Mellart. Its west wall is 841, the eastern wall is 838. The western and northern edges are arbitrary and determined by the trench borders.

The documented level is that left behind by the Mellart, and floors and features were often left truncated and partially.

Nevertheless, comparing our plan with that of Mellart many features, through preserved can be identified. Thus in the north east the lining of a platform is apparent. In the central area a rounded feauture might be the bottom of a fire installation dug by Mellart.
