Additional Phase Info: Central group of related buildings based on combination of stratigraphy (abutting relationships) and lithics assemblage dominated by East Gollu dag bifaces and percussion blades.
Lying at the surface of the mound, Sp.255 of B.52 represents the mid phase of the B.52 sequence. Excavated to the latest phase of occupation with NFE (not further excavated).
Prior to the introduction of the Hodder phases Sp.255 of B.521 had been allocated to Mellaart Level VI - V very crudely based on comparison of the material assemblage
but
Mellaart levels of buildings/spaces NOT excavated in the 1960s have been removed to allow an independent assessment on phasing.
NB/Work in progress. Correct as of date entered or modified.
Description:
The floor of space 255 was not well preserved, probably because of the fire and the fill of the space below was excavated before we could be sure of the sequence. Therefore the space can not be interpreted as part of a building; all that can be said is that it seems to be a small cooking/storage room.
Space fully excavated BT 11/08/2017
