Interpreted Mellaart Level: VIII
Hodder Level: South.L
Description:
Small space immediately below B.97, to it's north(western) side. Initially thought to be a back room of Sp.160, joined by a niche, or blocked crawl-hole. Excavation of the room fill revealed this to be untrue. In fact the niche turned out to be wall plaster adhering to the room fill where the northern wall (F4562/F403) had been obliquely truncated by the erosion face of Mellaart's section.
As such this space appears to have been a discreet building in its own right, albeit with an unconventional layout and small surface area. It had a number of internal features including two (or more?) possible small post-scars (retrieval scars). A dismantled oven (or perhaps hearth) and a platform in the southwest corner.
