Description:
- the space 630 refers most plausibly to an extensive open/unroofed area revealed below packing deposit 32761 underlying the B.132. The described space had been recognized only within the scope restricted by the walls of the Sp.633/ 531 that limited the research area. However, it is possible that the open area was much bigger and it extended originally beyond the mentioned quarter. The Sp.630 had been identified by the distinct surface of use U.23616 which seems to be unplastered bitten-like-floor or silty-clay layer which covered the whole area. Noteworthy is that the presented above surface 23616 sloped dramatically to the East direction. Suffice is to stay that the difference between the Western part (1010.72 – 1010.60m a.s.l.) and Eastern one (1009.83 – 1009.65 m a.s.l.) reached 1.07 – 0.95m. it is not clkear whether the surface was originally sloped or the distinctively inclined position was caused by a natural process related with the static of the mound and unstable ground. The surface had not been excavated due to the time constraints. Furthermore there had not been any restrictions identified. Nevertheless there were some features recorded within the space 630 that might shed a light into the activities that took place in the open area. For instance to the South there was a rectangular partition recorded F.8600 that was made of the reused material set partially into the foundation cut U.23628. The state of preservation disabled however stating the actual nature of the construction. Worth noticing is that along the prolongation of the N-partition U.23629 there were two post-retrieval-pits recognized F.8349 and F.8601 that indicate undeniably the presence of kind of light construction based on the wooden posts whose purpose was probably related with shading the area. An on-site reconnaissance revealed that below the top layer of surface 23616 there are randomly placed fire spots that may additionally imply the character of the open space.
We believe that actual nature of the area especially regarding the question whether it was un-roofed or not might be identified in the future by the results of micro-morphological and micro-stratigraphical analyzes that will be conducted onto the two block-samples S1 & S.2 (U.23616) collected from the area.
