Discussion: Probably a burnt layer of occupational debris above floor just to south of F1423.

From the priority tour the specialsts noted that the bone and few pot sherds were typical of building fill. There was a large quantity of plant remains that were not typical of species introduced through animal dung. Also present was dock leaf in addition to a quantity of emmer.

Definition: south of F1423 and above floors

Consistency: Firm 

Colour: Mid grey with lumps of mudbrick perhaps collaspse in occupation debris 

Texture: Silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: frequent charcoal flecks, occasional bone and obsidian 

Post-depositional Features: animal burrows 

Basal Boundary: floor surfaces
