Description: Fast track 

 

Discussion: unit number given in order to locate x find within matrix. Unit describes arbitrary cleaning layer of area bounded to east and west by mud brick walls, to south by shelter foundation, truncated away to north.
Walls given feature numbers in 2002 excavation but no sheets written. Also space between walls given number but again no sheet written. Numbers will be reused for this phase of excavation.

Execution: trowel and brush 

Condition: very dry/dusty 

Consistency: loose 

Colour: mid grey brown, occ darker brown and occ orange patches. 

Texture: silty loam 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: modern roots, concrete debris and metal debris. 

Post-depositional Features: see 5. Mostly due to shelter construction/disturbance, also rodent activity. 

Basal Boundary: arbitrary - intact/uncontaminated archaeology.
