Unit 1052
Category: layer dug in 1996
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: building fill
Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: homogeneous
Dimensions: 1.02m x 0.5m x 0.1m
Discussion: Building fill up against walls of room 16 (Mellaart's level 7). Clearly the walls were not completely exposed b Mellaart as this is too compact and uncontaminated to represent backfill. However, since its extent is now completely arbitrary it was not dry sieved or sampled. Lies against the North-South wall between spaces 105 and 106, but appears to run underneath the East-West wall to the North. Probably the same deposit as 1053 below. The extent of this was later expanded to include the material clinging to the surface of the Western wall of space106. This was again extremely compact and included deer antler and a small bone bead.
