Discussion: First layer beneath 1052. Arbitrary layer of undifferentiated building fill butting wall on the east side. Still difficult to trace northern wall. No obvious distinction of material within, but greater concentration of charcoal at the northern end and a possible pit in the central area to further investigate. 

Execution: Hand- trowel and small pick 

Condition: hot, sunny, slight breeze 

Consistency: firm 

Colour: 10YR 4/2 

Texture: silty clay loam 

Bedding: mixed - no distinct layers 

Inclusions: c. 4% charcoal< 20mm, 20% mud brick (< 120mm) 

Post-depositional Features: roots (few), animal holes (many), salt crustation
