Unit 10821
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: arbitrary layer,construction fill
Data Category Information: Location: between walls; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: arbitrary spit of construction fill in Sp.162 below space 231 FAST TRACK
Discussion: arbitrary spit of construction fill. Continuation of unit 10819 above. Reddish brown loose sandy clay containing large amounts of stone and charcoal and clay balls all of which decreased in ubiquity downwards. Nonetheless the matrix was clearly identical.
Note that the southern definition of this unit has become arbitrary as it was found that the wall f 1701 is out of phase. Thus the fill in space 231 - this unit - is identical to that in space 112 - unit 10818.
The lower limit of the unit is arbitrary.
TDV is derived from dims.
Recognition: arbitrary layer
Definition: bounded by the walls of space 231 - arbitrary distinction to the south
Execution: mattock and scraper
Condition: moist
Consistency: sandy, crumbly, heterogeneous
Colour: reddish brown
Texture: loose, silty clay
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: large number of stones, charcoal, clay balls, some bone, and obsidian, brick fragments
Post-depositional Features:
Basal Boundary: arbitrary, packing continues below

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
