Unit 10831
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: arbitrary layer,fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: arbitrary fill unit of burial 1709 FAST TRACK
Discussion: arbitrary fill of arbitrary cut 10830. Fill derives from area in the vicinity of skeleton 10813 and the surrounding elements of skeleton 10814. The matrix was otherwise similar to that of the surrounding unit 10812.
Below the skeleton 10813 some reddish brown discolorations with white specks were encountered, which could be the residues of organic materials. Sample 1 was taken below cluster 10835 (flints and antler point) and sample 2 due north of the spine. Later it was realised that these discolorations occur mainly below the weaker tissues of the skeleton (such as ribs and vertebrae) and may represent leaching and disintigration of these bones rather than something else.
Calculated from dims.
