Discussion: Lower part of second ashy layer within FI 11; in this NW quadrant taken out separately - rather more compact and surface-like than loose charcoal-rich ash above. Becoming thin and less dark towards N side of hearth where higher, and little more than the thinnest of interfaces between 1153 and1157

Colour: 10YR 3/2 

Texture: silty loam and ash 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: charcoal <2%, <1cm; white plaster <2%, <3cm
