Unit 11739
Category: Skeleton dug in 2005
Area: TP
Interpretive Categories: human skeleton
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: 0.90 x 0.42 x 0,65
Discussion: This Neolithic skeleton was disturbed during Neolithic times. The body was at least partiarly fleshed when it was placed here because several body areas (e.g. shoulder, hand, foot, knee) were in articulation even thought the body body parts were not in anatomical position. In addition, the mass of bones were truncated in post-Neolithic times by the excavation of pits to the north, south and east of the skeleton. There was an additional lower leg and foot (11762, XI) to the west of the skeleton 11739. Initially, the encentration of bones was thought to be from several individuals but only two individulas were indentified in these remains. These was a small group between two individuals although the burial fill appeared to be the same. The second individual (11762, XI) had been even more disturbed than 11739 in post-Neolithic times such that only the lower leg and foot remained.

Body: These bones are the disturbed remains of a Neolithic individual. Several body parts were in articulatoin although the body itself was disarticulated from anatomical position. The skeleton was also incomplete due to post Neolithic activities. Orientation and position of the body was not possible to determine. All bones are highly fragmented. Several major joints were intact, including he cervical vertebrae t the base of the cranium.
