Unit 11792
Category: Layer dug in 2006
Area: TP
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick
Dimensions: 1,90 x 0,32 x 0,31
Discussion: This is a fragment of a wall situated along N-S axis, against an older platform (unit 11529) that is probably dated back to phase II. This wall belongs to the youngest floor deposits of Building 61. This two units were certainly used at the same time. The wall is truncated by a Byzantine grave (Unit 11589).
The wall consisted of three layers of light grey mudbricks placed regularly one on top of the other. Their dimensions varied considerably. As looked at from the top to the bottom they have the following dimensions:
upepr layer: length 0.57 m, width 0.32 m, height 0.06 m
middle layer: 0.61/ 0.34/ 0.06; 0.65/ 0.24/ 0.06; .68/ 0.30/ 0.06;
bottom layer: 0.67/ 0.33/ 0.06; 0.22/ 0.30/ 0.06; 0. 68/ 0.30/ 0.06; 0.23 - 0.38/ 0.32/ 0.06.
The brownish mortar between the bricks was 0.03 - 0.04 m height and the mortar paleced on top of the older floor of Building 61 was c. 0.05 m height. The bricks are characterised by solid manufacture and hence were easily identifiable.
