Interpretive Categories: neolithic full term fetus still in mother

Data Category Information: none

Discussion: The full-term fetus was in the typical fetus position associated with the end of pregancy: head engaged in the birth canal with the arms and legs tucked in towards the center of the body in a flexed position. It is highly probable that the baby was undelivered due to complications durig childbirth.

The condition of the skull is poor but the position of the head in the pelvis was clear. Moreover, the bones of the fetus were clearly in the ribcage of (13162).

The mother (SK13162) was the first burial in the platform (F2225). She was headless and probably also diedin childbirth.
