Discussion: Soft fil of probable Byzantine disturbance/ pit 13730. Contained many disturbed human remains (see also 13740 and 13742), tiles etc. Heavily animal disturbed especially on northern side. Arbitrarily distiguished from 13740 (possible fully disturbed grave in the centre of this feature) and 13742 (fill of deeper cut disturbing W end of grave containing skeleton 13744).
Recognition: softer, looser and more disturbed than surrounding area (ie 13717), also contained fragments of Byzantine tile
Definition: Clear within a cut
Execution: Mattock, shovel and trowel
Condition: Dry getting slightly moister further down. Hot
Consistency: Soft and friable although there are some firmer patches
Colour: greyish brown
Texture: silty loam
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: fragments of mudbrick and tile, pottery, bone (human and animal) and obsidian
Post-depositional Features: animal burrows
Basal Boundary: arbitrary - at the point where individual grave cuts appeared except at the northern end where clear
