Discussion: This layer contained the grave fill unit 14245, going down. It seems the grave was disturbed as disarticulated bones started to appear part way through excavation. This layer was very hard at the eastern end, which was shallower. The unit was quite mixed with harder burnt lumps of clay in the soil. The unit became quite mudbricky in places, and eventually what looked like whole mudbricks (orange in colour) appeared at the eastern end. At this point, a possible cut made by grave robbers appeared and thus this unit was stopped and two more begun for the original and redeposited soil. It is not yet clear whther the orange bricks were chopped away in the western half by robbers or redeposited by their backfill, although the latter is favoured.
