Unit 1716
Category: layer dug in 1996
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: arbitrary layer
Data Category Information: Description: cleaning
Dimensions: 2.00 x 1.80 x 0.11
Discussion: 1716 is defined as an area of mudbrick wash, possibly covering wall 105 at its eastern end. After digging the brownish layer (#6) of variable thickness (2-7) cm, a uniform white plastered surface is uncovered. We provisionally characterise this surface a floor (F 110), later than the wall 105. The eastern end of wall 105 is not yet visible, presumably covered by the floor.

Unit description: Small unit, rather well preserved. Almost entirely sheep-size. Exceptions are a human tooth and a couple of crumbly fagments of proximal humerus/femur caput that could be human, and a fragment of a scapula tool. Very little burning. Two sheep/goat astragali dominate diagnostic bones. Cranial bone is mostly tooth fragments. One piece with probable trample wear.
