Unit 17561
Category: Layer dug in 2009
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: plaster on platform
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: raised area (platform)
Description: Fire damaged plaster surface on NE platform, the surface of this heavly decorated platform is powdery almost ash like. There is some slumping at the center of the platform, possibly as a result of a burial below.
Discussion: The layer that was removed increased in thickness in the eastern part, from 1 cm to between 2-3 cm. Because of the conservation work on the pedestals, there will be some contamination in the flotation sample. When tracing the red plaster on the platform and pedestals, it was clear that it originally had several layers, about 2 cm thick total. When tracing the paint on the S part of the NE wall, and trying to connect it to the floor, it turned out that the paint had continued about .
