Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Material: brick&mortar; Deposition: heterogeneous
Dimensions: 0.74 x 0.46 x 0.20
Discussion: This is the Southern pillaster of the wall 17683 (oriented N-S in E part of the trench). Its size and hypothetical function is similar to the northern pillaster (see u. 17675) associated with this wall. It consisted of two courses of bricks. The upper course was made of one large brick with the following dimensions: 0.75 x 0.45 x 0.08. It abutted against the face of the wall 17683. Lower course comprised of two bricks:
The southern brick: 0.40 x 0.30 x 0.08
The northern one: 0.43 x 0.32 x 0.07.
The bricks were joined with 5 cm thick mortar which wasn't separately recorded.
