Unit 17678
Category: Layer dug in 2008
Area: TP
Interpretive Categories: infill
Data Category Information: Location: between walls; Deposition: heterogeneous
Dimensions: 6.60 x 0.38 x 0.26
Discussion: It is an infill placed between the walls oriented N-S ( western walls: 17683, 17800 and eastern walls: 17689, 17690, 17692, 17693). The infill comprised mid orange, and mid gray broken bricks, fragments of mortar and plaster. Its deposition seemed to be ralated with the need to fill in the space between these two walls aftermath considerable destruction possibly caused by an earthquake. This may be indicated by the present of position of the eastern walls which are clearly sloping to the East. They are no longer placed vertically but diagonally, which remains in a stricking contast with younger walls to the west( 17800, 17683). Hence, functionally the fill 17678 placed in a crack might be linked with an effort to renovate or stabilize the walls.
