Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: basin; Material: dark grey clay; Deposition: composite (floors/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation)

 

Discussion: Unknown if bin or basin. Basin is expected because higher bin walls would be unusual in that position. Layer lipped up onto sides of bin but appears to be contemporary with oven, possibly also with southern bin (though bin may also have been earlier).

Colour: Mid grey 

Texture: Fine ashy clay 

Bedding: Layered 

Inclusions: Plant inclusions mixed into clay, a fine ashy burnt layer, some occ. small stones 

Post-depositional Features: Some root remains 

Basal Boundary: Comes down onto dark grey clay layer. Sharp.
