Discussion: Hearth surround-part of hearth 7402 which is a remodeling of earlier hearth 7426. Constructed of quite sterile pise-like mudbrick, moulded into hearth surround & built into cut which presumably removed previous E edge of hearth & truncates floors 19185.

This is the E edge of hearth 7402 which has been completely rebuilt in the later phase and is worn from activity which suggests that the majority of hearth activity took place on this eastern side as the opposite W surround (19175). 

Consistency: Compact 

Colour: Light orangey grey brown 

Texture: slightly Silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: occasional grit & moderate fine ash (ash mostly beneath 19174 & removed with it)
