Unit 19712
Category: Layer dug in 2012
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: compound layer, floor and make up
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: mix (dark grey&white); Deposition: composite (floors/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation); Basal Spit: unpainted
Dimensions: 1.50 x 2.95 x 0.02 m
Discussion: Removed compound layer (floor and make-up) on western half of building 96. Tried to find relationship between the floor there and that on the platforms on the eastern half of the floor (u.19713). It was pretty difficult because there were many areas where the make-up and/or next layer of plaster were patchy and worn down, so we could not easily distinguish the layer we wanted to remove.
Recognition: Color, consistency
Definition: Clear at times, layers very patchy at others
Execution: Trowel, leaf trowel, small mattock
Condition: HOT, under shelter
Consistency: Firm to compact
