Unit 20055
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Plaster floor on a platform
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: pedestal/podium/plinth; Material: white clay; Deposition: composite (floors/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation); Basal Spit: unpainted
Description: One of the plaster levels of the south east corner platform (F. 3437). To the west there are remnants of a ladder base. Has been burned badly and contains inclusions of charcoal.
Discussion: The layers are compound and the boundaries of the unit are clear and therefore the unit can be recognized as a separate unit. The charcoal and the presence of a ladder base suggest this platform is the ladder platform, and the unit is one of many plastering/ flooring events. In excavation, because the layers are so thin and degraded, we removed approximately 4 layers: 2 plaster layers and 2 makeup layers in order to get to the next distinct flooring event. The Northern end of the platform is very gray in color, while the southern end is a little more orangey, suggesting that the southern end may have burned at a higher temperature.
