Unit description: Medium-size unit, well preserved. Striking for several large pieces of equid metapodials and associated bones. Otherwise few diagnostics except pig maxilla. Relatively little sheep-size material, mostly large mammal. Not too fragmented, many large pieces. Clearly broken for marrow, but maybe not processed for bone grease. Fairly even distribution through the body, but large mammals light on ribs and vertebrae. Very little burning, little gnawing or digestion. This unit seems to have more integrity than many, perhaps to represent primary dumping rather than secondary fill, and to have been buried rapidly. The equid foot bones may represent a single event. This is not just primary butchery, though, as they have been broken in a way that suggests marrow extraction...... 4mm flotation sample, 100% sorted, was recorded for diagnostics only. Most of the material was 03 sized unidentifables, but a little fish, microfauna and a few caprine bones were also in the sample. Last number = 90Figurine Records: Yes
