Unit 2114
Category: layer dug in 1997
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: grave fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Field covering skeleton 2115 in cut 2117. Within it are traces of phytolith? around hand & leg areas in particular; also dark/ black organic remains on mid-left ribs inside (or underneath ?) and below legs. Also pieces of grey pigment & possible scatter of the same below moist area, and also yellow ochre in the same area. Chunks of plaster in lower fill above the body suggest the pit was cut through a floor, & not pre-floor.
The interface below this layer & those surrounding it is unclear- where it joins 2121 covering the adjacent skeleton, its relationship with 1978 which was within cut 1988 but contained no bones, its base (disturbed by block lifting of parts of skeleton. 2115) could not be established properly. Contamination from midden type deposit below is reflected in the presence of pieces of charcoal from the dry sieve.
Execution: trowel, loaf
Condition: hot, cool, windy
Consistency: mod. weak
Colour: variable- 10YR 4/3 brown
Texture: sandy silty clay (<5% sand)

Post-depositional Features: cut by 2116 for skeleton 1995 and possibly redeposition of 1968 and 1963. 1995 may be redeposited too. Also roots
Basal Boundary: diisturbed by block lifting of fragile/ interlocked bones, but was clear & anthropogenic.
