Unit 21190
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Mortar of wall 7559
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: The mortar of wall F.7559 appears in layers of around 5cm in thickness. However, in two cases, the mortar line dividing two bricks on a horizontal row is around 0.20 m long.
Discussion: The mortar of wall F.7559 have been found in a good state of preservation. A thin layer of mortar separates the bricks line at the basis of wall F:7559 and the burnt bricks of an earlier wall, identified in the southern end of the wall. However, the basal boundary remains unclear in the norther part of the wall, where a dark brown, clayish layer has been found under the basis of the wall.
Excavated by pickel and trowel.
