Unit 21664

Category: Layer    dug in 2015

Area: North

Interpretive Categories: infill within a crawlhole [7856]

Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: niche; Deposition: heterogeneous

Discussion: - The unit 21664 was assigned in order to distinguish different context of deposition the external (Northern) sediments evidenced in 2015 within a crawl-hole F.7856. The latter was situated in the western part of the Southern wall of B.132, Sp.531. It is most probable that the accumulation processes, that resulted in the sealing the crawl-hole, from its (outer) northern side, were related with the general loading activities occurred in Sp.531 after abandonment. The infill consisted of collapsed plasters, varied size of broken bricks as well as mortar. Additionally, in the most upper part of the unit there were fragments of burned oven superstructure recognized with ash and charcoals. Basal boundary of the layer – 21664 was defined all around the cut (u.21665) within which plaster coating preserved partially in the E and W parts. In the upper and lower segment of the hole the alignment of bricks (u30143) from the wall F.3679 indicated the actual extension of the Unit.
In the course of research, aiming to expose and record the edges of the crawl-hole, it appeared that the revealed in the section northern face of the unit might be also related with accumulation of the deposits within Sp. 511, placed southward behind the wall (F.3679). Additionally, within the fill there were articulated human bones discovered that belong to several individuals.
