Discussion: Unit 21791 is another white plaster layer belonging to bench f.3439. Similarly to previously excavated layers from feature (f.3439), u. 21791 is highly layered unit consisting of at least about 10 of one milimeter layers of white plaster. It seemed to be pointless to distinguish and excavate every single plaster event, therefore we decided to lump recognizeable layers together under one unit number. This layer consisted of remnants of red painting uncovered during season 2014. Previously regular lines of red paint revealed mainly on the S edge of the bench (also see u. 21791).
The last boundary of u.21791 established by different color and texture succeeding plastering event as well as appearance of another red painting applications.
This fine red paint uncovered mainly on its flat surface of bench than the edges.
Any patterns and/or regularities in shape were indistinguishable. That is by this pigment remnants seems to be more like splash than intentional painting activity. It is also possible that this spot of pigment is a residue often some paint preparing activity such as mixing solution for further painting.
