Description: Area of clay in NE part of F4060. 

Discussion: Identified as a separate unit when the better part of U16772 had been excavated. The unit comes on top of the lower part of U16772 & NE part of U22207. In the part furthest to the NE corner, it is situated right on top of underlying floors.

I believe the unit to have been formed as a reenforcement of the oven superstructure/base. Looking at material alone, it shares more characteristics with the superstructure than with the base.

The unit was excavated by leaf trowel.

Texture: Silty clay 

Bedding: Massive 

Inclusions: A few pieces of charcoal

Basal Boundary: Constructional, very sharp, distinct, smooth
