Unit 22426
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Plaster extension to bench
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: pedestal/podium/plinth; Material: plaster; Deposition: homogeneous; Basal Spit: unpainted
Discussion: Unit is a massive deposit of homogenous plaster located at the w end of bench F 3439, that appears to serve as a later extension to the bench. It seems to extend the bench only in length, maintaining the height, width, and general shape of the earlier iteration of the feature. The plaster does not conceal a flat w surface of the earlier bench, but instead reveals a highly distorted single course of brick and mortar which then appears to be set up against the original end of the bench.
