Discussion: This cut between the roof was made to create new N-S profile to make possible to follow some lines which were visible on horizontal layer. After two angular cuts it then became a larger layer between the roof and the plaster of the N wall.
This stuff is sandy, compact so that it breaks in your hand easily . Its pinkish matrix is streaked strongly with thick (3 cm) charcoal and burned earth.
Most of S7 is from a discrete area of the baulk that was being taken down to free space in front of roof for removal of roof samples. In this sample was a chunk of what reminded me of clean roof. Namely the clean roof stripeys from units 2271 and 2286. This chunk was app, 25x10 cm.
Ash, loose immediately under 2273 and lying caught just north of platform wall (feature 162). It also goes along N edge of Nmost edge.

Unit description: This is unit of roof substructure and is represented by 7 flot samples (1?, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10). it is below the layers of 'dirty' roof. It is a small-medium unit, with mostly small pieces (<3 cm) but a few frags of 6 cm and one of 12 cm. There are some burnt fragments - grey, black and brown - some fish, little digestion, a lot of sheep size, and a few bits of cattle size (e.g. horn core, tooth). Weathering is normal for site (stages 2-3). in general, material is of a mixed nature, and may be incorporated from diverse sources into roof substructure material??? Sample 1 has a single diagnostic (horse tooth) Sample 2 has a fish jaw, but no other diagnostics. Sample 3 has no diagnostics Sample 5 has 3 frags of Bos horn core as diagnostics only, and 2 fish bones. Sample 7 has no diagnostics, and 1 frag rodent bone. Sample 8 has one diagnostic (sheep/goat horn core fragment). Sample 10 has a single diagnostic (a sheep/goat tooth). LY 2001: Small amount of material to be added to the existing F76-90 NR 2004: Sample 13 yielded a deciduous sheep/goat incisor from the >2mm. Last number = 91
