Dimensions: 0.10 x 0.10 m x 5 mm 

Discussion: Small patch/skim of ash visible towards the front, W end of the oven. Presumably just a small vestige of the use of the oven, but apart from this and 2 stones left on the oven floor, oven swept clean. 

Recognition: Recognised by WM when brushing clean floor of oven to decide where to sample. 

Definition: Moderately well defined but not immediately obvious, lying over eroded part of oven floor and colour does not contrast greatly with that of the floor. 

Execution: Trowel 

Condition: Dry. Dry and Sunny. 

Consistency: loose to friable 

Colour: light grey, no Munsell taken 

Texture: (ash) - fine silt 

Bedding: massive/layered? 

Inclusions: occasional charcoal flecks 

Post-depositional Features: n/a 

Basal Boundary: abrupt/distinct/smooth/flat
