Unit 30642
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: architectural componant (part of wall)
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick&mortar
Discussion: Small, but distinctive linear unit, apparently different from the larger unit which underlay it (F.7210), which turned out to be a wall belonging to earlier architecture. In fact it looked as if this linear had three grey brown bricks in it, and may be thta this is actually the ephemeral remains of an upper brick course, belonging to (F.7210).
If this is the case then it was probably damaged on its south side by Mellaarts excavation.
This unit may change space-building once underlying architecture has be defined.
Consistency: firm - compact
Colour: mid brown - some mid grey brown patches
Texture: slightly sandy silt
Bedding: compound (maybe brick - mortar)
Inclusions: occa. charcoal flecks
Post-depositional Features: may have been truncated or damaged by mellaart excavations
Basal Boundary: Distinct. Clear interface with underlying wall (may represent part of a damaged upper course)
